Help! My PC Won’t Boot After Removing the Side Panel

Hey everyone, so I ran into a problem after removing the side panel of my PC. It was working fine, but then it froze completely; I couldn't move the mouse or use the keyboard. I had to force a shutdown using the power button. Now, whenever I try to boot it up, I get no display output at all. The fans are spinning, but there's no POST, and my keyboard doesn't light up either.

I've tried a bunch of things like reseating the RAM, booting without it, connecting the display directly to the motherboard, removing the CMOS battery, and even letting it sit unplugged overnight, but nothing seems to work. I'm fairly certain that the CPU, RAM, GPU, and PSU are fine, but I'm starting to think it might be a motherboard issue. What do you all think? Is there anything else I can try or any ideas on what could have gone wrong?

Even though you don't think it's a display issue, it's worth trying a different monitor just to be absolutely sure. Sometimes, it's the simplest things that trip us up!

I tried using a different display, but unfortunately, that didn’t help.

It sounds like you're having a tough time! Start by stripping it down to the basics: remove the video card and use the onboard video connection. Just leave one stick of RAM in place and try reseating the CPU as well to see if it posts or boots to BIOS in that state. If it does, you can start adding other components back one at a time. Also, check if you accidentally knocked the video card when taking off the side panel; look for any visible damage to the GPU connector or the motherboard's PCIe socket.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check the connections carefully.

I agree, checking the video card is a good next step.

Do you have a list of your components? That might help in diagnosing the issue.

Sure! It's an old setup: Asus Prime H270 Plus motherboard, an i5 7400 CPU, ROG Strix GTX 1050 Ti for the graphics, and G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 RAM (one 8GB stick and one 16GB stick).
