Help! My PC Won’t Boot After Trying Auto Overclock

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a panic because my PC isn't booting up and I can't see my usual login screen. I was attempting to overclock my 7900 XTX and, since I'm still figuring things out, I went with the 'Auto Overclock' option in AMD Adrenalin. When it prompted me to restart, I selected that option to save the settings.

After about 45 seconds, the PC powered down like I expected, but then the login screen never appeared—just the input screen on my display. I waited five minutes, tried a hard reset, and still nothing. I've tried disconnecting it, waiting a bit, and draining residual power, but it's still not working. The system lights up, but there's no display on the monitor, and my keyboard, which usually lights up at the login, isn't responding either. This is stressing me out; I thought auto overclocking was supposed to be safe! I was just trying to improve my benchmarks and learn a bit more. Any suggestions?

One more thing to keep in mind—next time your PC starts up, give it at least 30 minutes. Those auto-OC features can take a while to kind of work themselves out before you see a result. It might seem like nothing is happening, but just let it do its thing for a bit before jumping into the reset.

Hey, don't panic! You probably didn't break anything. Sometimes the auto-OC feature in Adrenalin can set a profile that's too aggressive, causing display issues. Try doing a hardware reset: turn everything off, unplug the PC, and hold the power button for a few seconds to discharge any leftover power.

Then remove the CMOS battery (it's usually a CR2032) for a few minutes and put it back in. This will reset any strange OC settings. Boot up, go straight into the BIOS, and load the default values. Avoid using Adrenalin for now. If the display works, boot into Windows and reinstall the AMD drivers cleanly. If you plan to overclock again in the future, do it manually and gradually. Don't worry, this happens a lot!

Thanks for the tips! I tried to power cycle and held the power button earlier, but didn’t remove the battery yet. I’m planning to try that tomorrow when I’m less frazzled. I've read some about how auto OC can cause long startup times due to RAM training—just want to make sure I didn’t mess anything up in the process.

Good call on waiting! It’s always better to approach these things with a fresh mindset. If you still see any warning lights on your motherboard, it might give you a clue about what’s going on when you check again.
