Help! My PC Won’t Detect My Second Monitor After Changing CPUs

I recently upgraded my CPU from a Ryzen 3 3200G to a Ryzen 5 5600, but I had some issues with getting a video signal after the swap. Initially, I switched back to the old CPU, and that's when I encountered a strange BIOS screen with a message about a CMOS checksum error. Although I eventually got the regular BIOS screen back after a few restarts, I'm now facing a major issue: my second monitor, which I use for extended displays, is not being detected correctly. I sometimes get a stretched image that reflects my primary monitor, but at times it shows no signal. I'm using a DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter since my new RX 6600 GPU doesn't support VGA directly. Before the CPU change, everything was working fine. I'm really hoping to fix this on my own since I can't afford repairs right now. Any advice on what went wrong and how I can get my second monitor back up and running?

It sounds like you ran into a couple of issues here. The first one seems related to your CMOS battery, which may have died or gotten reset when you swapped CPUs. That can sometimes mess with your BIOS settings. As for your monitor, your DisplayPort to VGA adapter might have gotten damaged or knocked loose during your changes. Have you tried using different DisplayPort outputs or even different cables? The adapter can be finicky, especially with VGA. If you have access to other ports, that could help!

Thanks for the tip about the CMOS battery! I think I sorted that out. I’ve tried all the DisplayPort options, and it’s always the same result. I know my monitor has a DVI port, but I’m a bit low on cash for new cables right now.
