Hey folks, I'm dealing with a puzzling issue with my PC. It was running perfectly fine until about a week ago when I left for a short trip. Upon my return, I attempted to play a game after a long flight, but now it just won't turn on. When I hit the power button, I get a click sound as if the CPU fan is trying to start up, but then it stops right away. If I try pressing the power button again afterward, nothing happens. I can reproduce this by switching the PSU off and back on – it clicks once and then doesn't do anything. I've attempted various troubleshooting methods, like discharging capacitors, disconnecting and reconnecting all the components, booting with minimal components, and even shorting the power pins with a screwdriver, but nothing seems to work. I took apart and reassembled my whole computer tonight, and everything looks fine. My last theory is that it might be a dead or faulty CMOS battery because of how quickly it stops trying to boot. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You might want to try clearing the CMOS. Some motherboards, especially MSI ones, are known to act up and won't boot until the CMOS is reset.

How do I do that exactly? I have an Asus Prime B550 motherboard. If you’re talking about removing it for a few minutes and putting it back, then I've already tried that.
