Help! My Raritan KVM isn’t connecting to the network

I recently picked up a used Raritan Dominion KX-ii (model DKX2-432) with a rack I bought. It seems to work fine except for one major issue: I can't get it to connect to any network. The previous owner said it worked over a network, but now I'm struggling. I've tried everything from setting static IPs to using DHCP, fiddling with automatic failover, and adjusting the duplex settings, but nothing seems to work. Even after manually setting an IP address, the device IP field remains blank. I've also done a factory reset, but I'm still stuck. Does anyone have experience with Raritan KVMs or similar issues? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you've covered a lot of the basics, which is great. Here are some additional things to check:

1. Verify that you're configuring the right network interface on the KVM.
2. Make sure any necessary VLAN configurations are correct.
3. Confirm that the MAC address is visible and that there's a link light at both the KVM and the switch. If not, you could be dealing with a hardware issue.
4. Check if your firmware is 2.5.0 or higher. Earlier versions had bugs with saving network settings.
5. It’s a good idea to ensure it’s not booting off a USB drive that may affect network settings.
6. If all settings, including network ones, aren’t saving, the internal flash might have issues since these devices can have problems after a decade or so.
7. On the off chance nothing else works, try a deeper factory reset by holding the reset while powering on for 10 seconds.

Thanks for the solid suggestions! It’s crucial to make sure you’re using the right network interface and that your configurations are correct, especially regarding VLANs. Since your MAC address shows and there's some blinking activity on your switch, it sounds like there’s at least partial recognition at the hardware level. Good call checking the firmware version too; just a small glitch in software can cause a big headache. If you’re confident everything else is in order and the settings save, keep trying that factory reset method and maybe double-check the connections to ensure they’re all snug.
