Help! My Screen is Glitching With Lines – What Can I Do?

I've been dealing with some annoying lines at the bottom of my screen for a while now. At first, they were easy to ignore, but over the past few months, they've grown bigger and now they're covering some UI elements in games, which is really frustrating. I'm not very tech-savvy—I only know how to update my drivers through Nvidia, and BIOS settings completely confound me. After swapping out my DisplayPort cable, I'm feeling a bit lost. Has anyone else encountered this problem, and how can I fix it? Also, I'm not sure how to add photos to this post; I think I managed to add one in the comments. Any help would be appreciated!

Have you tried connecting your computer to an external monitor? That way you can narrow down whether the issue is with the monitor or the graphics card itself. If the lines only show up on the external monitor too, then you might have a problem with your graphics hardware.

Great idea! That could really help identify where the problem lies. Just remember, if you can see the lines on the external display, then it’s likely not just the monitor acting up.

Those lines look pretty nasty! If they show up in the BIOS and safe mode, it might indicate that there's a physical issue with your display—the panel itself or the ribbon cable leading to it could be the culprit. You might want to check if any cables are loose or damaged inside your monitor or computer. Just be careful if you decide to open anything up!

True, if it’s the display panel, you might have to look into replacing the whole monitor. It can be intimidating to check the cables, but make sure to power down and unplug everything first before poking around.

Those BIOS lines definitely point to a hardware issue. A loose or failing display cable can cause those glitches, and if you're not comfortable checking it out, you might want to take it to a repair shop. They can assess if the monitor or the internal connections need replacement.

Yeah, I’m really hesitant to open up my case. I’ll see if I can find a repair shop nearby.
