Help! My Son Can’t Play His New Game on His Gaming PC

My son received a gaming PC for Christmas, but he's having trouble with it. He wants to play Drive Beyond Horizons, but the game is lagging so badly that it's unplayable. We're trying to download the latest Nvidia graphics driver because we got an error saying the current version has issues with D3D11. However, the installer won't start at all. I'm not very tech-savvy and I'm feeling pretty lost trying to solve this for my son. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there! It sounds like your son's PC might have some compatibility issues with D3D11. If possible, I could actually send over my old Nvidia 2070 Super for shipping costs. Just let me know if you're in a good area for delivery and I can ship it!

Wow, that's super generous! I hope they take you up on your offer. The 2070 Super is a solid card that should handle most games well.

That's really nice of you! OP, if you can get that GPU, it should make a big difference.

Make sure your monitor is connected to the GPU instead of the motherboard. That's a common mistake that causes graphics issues!

Double-check if you have the right drivers—make sure to download the gaming drivers instead of the studio ones. You might want to install the Nvidia app from the Microsoft App Store; it's really handy for checking for driver updates.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely give the app a try and see if that helps.

It looks like the setup might be outdated. What version of Windows is he running? Also, could you share the specs of the PC? We might be able to figure out what’s going on more clearly if we have that information.

He's on Windows 11. I'll see if I can find the specs for the graphics card and share them.

Can you let us know if there are any specific error messages? And do you know if he has an AMD or Nvidia graphics card? Knowing that would help narrow down the solutions.

I really appreciate the help! I’m not sure how to check for the graphics card model, but I can look into it.
