I've been troubleshooting for hours, but my Ubuntu system just won't recognize my printer on any of the USB ports. Interestingly, I plugged the printer into an old laptop running Xubuntu, and it worked perfectly right away. Any ideas on what might be going wrong with my current setup?

Have you checked what CUPS (the printing system) shows? Sometimes it can give you clues about whether the printer is being recognized or if there's an issue with the drivers.
If CUPS can't find the printer, try looking in the settings under "Printers" to see if it's listed but not enabled. Sometimes it's just a matter of enabling it or re-adding it!

Yeah, I had a similar issue with an older printer. It wasn't showing up until I removed it and added it again through the CUPS web interface. Worth a shot!
