Help! My USB Drive Disappeared After Using Rufus

I was trying to create a bootable USB drive using Rufus when suddenly I got an error saying the process failed. Now, I can't find my USB drive anywhere in File Explorer. I checked with the command prompt, and it shows that the disk doesn't exist anymore. When I run "list disk," it shows the drive size as 0 bytes, which is alarming. The disk information displayed is as follows: "NAND USB2DISK USB Device, Disk ID: 00000000, Type: USB, Status: No Media, Path: 0, Target: 0, LUN ID: 0, Location Path: UNAVAILABLE, Current Read-only State: No, Read-only: No, Boot Disk: No, Pagefile Disk: No, Hibernation File Disk: No, Crashdump Disk: No, Clustered Disk: No." What could have caused this? Thanks for any insights!

You could try using diskpart to fix it. Go to diskpart, list the disks, select your USB, and type 'clean.' After that, check disk management to format it. But if that fails, it might mean the drive is toast.

I already attempted that, and it didn't work. I'm starting to think the drive is completely dead.

It sounds like you might have just had bad luck with a faulty USB drive. Sometimes they just give out, and it can happen during the writing process. Sorry to hear that! You might need to get a new one.

It's unlikely that Rufus actually caused the issue; it seems like the drive failed during the process. These things happen. I’d recommend replacing the drive if you can.
