I recently picked up a used 'Saber Gaming' laptop for $250, which has a GeForce GTX 1060. It was running fine until I downloaded a driver update as recommended after getting an error while trying to play a game. After successfully updating the driver from Nvidia's website, the laptop started shutting off shortly after turning it on, often before even getting to the login screen. I've tried taking the battery out and hard resetting it, and I'm currently looking into resetting the laptop to remove the driver. Additionally, I updated to Windows 11 around the same time, so that might be part of the issue. I'm not very familiar with computer hardware or drivers, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely consider rolling back to an earlier version of the Nvidia driver. Older versions often work better with legacy hardware like your GTX 1060. If you find that doesn't work, then look into reinstalling Windows. It could also be worth checking for any overheating issues if it shuts off really quickly.
It sounds like the driver update might be causing compatibility issues, especially since older graphics cards sometimes struggle with the newer drivers. I recommend doing a clean installation of Windows if you haven't already, just to eliminate any hidden conflicts from previous installations. It could help stabilize things!
That makes sense! Do you think I should try an older version of the Nvidia driver first before going for a clean install?

Good point about overheating! A clean install will help too, just make sure you back up any important data first.
