Help Needed for Installing an MSI 5080 GPU

I'm upgrading my GPU for the first time and I want to switch from an MSI 7900 to an MSI 5080. Do I need to use a specific cable to connect the new GPU to my PSU, like this one I found? The link leads to a cable (12VHPWR), but if that doesn't work, there's a reference image. My current setup has the GPU connected via a 2x8pin to a 3x8pin setup. The new GPU comes with an adapter that goes from 3x8pin to 1x16pin. Should I use that adapter? Also, I'm unsure if my motherboard will even support the 5080. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

You're good as long as your motherboard has a PCIe slot, which it does if the 7900 is working. Just use the recommended cable and your installation should be smooth. 👍

I don’t have any extra cables either, so I’ll have to pick one up as well. Any suggestions on which one to choose?

You can stick with the 12VHPWR cable that your PSU provides. That adapter that comes with the GPU is mainly for older power supplies that don’t include that cable. If your motherboard has a PCIe x16 slot and your 7900 fits there, any GPU designed for that connection, including the 5080, should work just fine.
