I'm gearing up to build my first PC and could use some guidance on part compatibility and recommendations! I've been diving into some research to understand the parts better, especially since I want to run games like modded Stellaris, CK3, RimWorld, Minecraft, and Skyrim. Knowing these games rely heavily on single-threaded cores with large caches, I decided on the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D for my CPU. Here's the list of components I'm considering:
- Case: NZXT H5 Flow 2024
- Power Supply: CORSAIR RM750x
- Motherboard: ASRock AMD X870E Taichi
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- GPU: Radeon RX 7600 XT
- Storage: SAMSUNG 990 PRO SSD 4TB x 2
- RAM: CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM 64GB
I'm open to suggestions and would like to know if these parts will work well together. Also, if there are better options out there for a similar or lower price point, I'd love to hear your advice!

Your parts are mostly compatible, but I think you could make some smarter choices. First off, consider switching from the ASRock motherboard, as they've had reports of damaging CPUs lately. A B850 motherboard would save you some cash without losing performance. Regarding RAM, 32GB is likely plenty for gaming, so maybe think about going with 2x16GB instead of 2x32GB. That SSD is pretty pricey for what you need—perhaps a 2TB 990 Evo Plus could be a more economical way to go. Lastly, I’d strongly recommend upgrading that GPU since the RX 7600 XT might hold back your performance in games. You could use the savings from the other parts to grab a better graphics card!
Absolutely! A lower-priced SSD can still provide great performance, especially if you prioritize good read/write speeds. It’s worth researching alternatives that could meet your storage needs without breaking the bank!
Thanks for the quick tips! I'm looking to save some money where I can, so I’ll definitely consider that B850 board. For the RAM, I was looking at 2x32GB because that was what I saw, but I’ll check if 2x16GB is enough. I really do need around 8TB for my Steam library though—do you think a cheaper SSD would still manage good loading times?
