Hey folks! I'm a few hours away from Micro Center and looking for a sanity check on my planned PC build. My goal is to use it primarily for 1440p gaming, some programming, and a bit of light AI work. I'm working with a budget of around $3000 before tax and want to ensure it has good future-proofing. I have a few specific questions:
- Is the cooling sufficient for an Intel Core i9-14900K?
- Does the case provide good airflow?
- Are there any components you'd recommend swapping out?
Here's the list of parts I'm considering:
- Intel Core i9-14900K Processor
- ASUS Z790 MAX GAMING WIFI7 Motherboard
- Corsair VENGEANCE RGB 64GB RAM
- ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 GPU
- Samsung 990 PRO 4TB SSD
- Lian Li O11 DYNAMIC EVO Case
- Super Flower Leadex III 1000W PSU
- ASUS Prime LC 360 Liquid Cooling
- Arctic Cooling Case Fans
The total comes to about $3,382.89. Let me know what you think!

Instead of going for the 14th gen bundle, consider switching to one of the Ultra bundles. You might get better value that way!
I recommend checking out Micro Center's PowerSpec G913; it might save you some cash and still give you great performance!
I get that you're going big with the 14900K, but are you sure about that choice? For $3k+, you might want to look at AMD options; they often provide better performance for the price. Just a thought!
True, AMD might be more budget-friendly, but Intel has its perks too, especially for certain workloads!

Yeah, I’m with you on that! AMD has some really solid options right now, especially for gaming.
