Help Needed: Stuck in BitLocker Recovery Loop on Windows 11

I gifted my sister an Asus G14 laptop for her college, and now she's faced with a BitLocker recovery loop after an exam. Every time she reboots her laptop, it leads her back to the BitLocker recovery screen. Unfortunately, she doesn't have the 48-digit recovery key stored anywhere. I checked her Microsoft account using the Gmail ID linked during setup, but no recovery keys are showing up. I tried running the `manage-bde -status` command from the recovery prompt, and it shows that the drive is locked with no way to manage the protectors. Attempting to reset the PC from the recovery options also fails, with no other options available. What can I do to help her reset the PC? She isn't familiar with installation via USB, and I'm looking for alternative solutions.

Just to clarify, if she set up her Windows with her own Microsoft account, the recovery key will be in her account, not yours. Make sure you check the right Microsoft account. If she can’t find it there, then the next step is to create a bootable USB stick from another computer to reinstall Windows. You can find a guide on how to do that here: [rtech.support/installations/install-11](https://rtech.support/installations/install-11/). If that sounds too complicated, her college might have an IT club where she could get help, or you could consider taking it to a local computer shop for assistance.

Thanks, I’ll help her out with the USB installation. Sounds like our best option.

Yeah, without the recovery key, it’s pretty tough to unlock BitLocker. Make sure she hasn’t pinned it to her account or saved it somewhere she might have forgotten about. If it comes down to reinstalling Windows, it’s really the only feasible way to proceed anyway.

Exactly! Just hope she has her files backed up, or else she might lose everything.

I found a thread that might be useful! Check out this link: https://www.reddit.com/r/WindowsHelp/s/oNnjnHPckW. It has some tips on recovering the key, but honestly, without it, she’ll have to go down the reinstallation path.

Unfortunately, no work or school account linked, just her personal one, so no luck.
