Help Needed: USB Not Detected in BIOS for Linux Installation

I'm trying to install Linux Mint on a Dell Precision T3600 with BIOS version A18, but the USB drive isn't recognized in the BIOS UEFI settings. I've followed several recommendations and noticed some settings seem to be missing—like options to disable Secure Boot or CSM, and I can't turn off Fast Boot either. I've tried adding the USB to the Boot List UEFI, but it only lets me choose to boot Windows... When I select UEFI, the USB doesn't show up at all, only appearing under Legacy, which doesn't help for installation. My mom created the USB with Balena Etcher, but we've attempted using three different USB drives, including one previously used for MX Linux. As this is my first time navigating BIOS, I'm feeling a bit lost. Are there any settings I might be missing?

This is definitely a tricky situation. Sometimes UEFI firmware can be a bit restrictive. Check if there’s an advanced settings section in your BIOS—maybe there's something hidden there. Also, Balena Etcher has caused issues for many users. You could try using Rufus or better yet, create a Ventoy drive. With Ventoy, you can just copy the ISO files onto the USB and boot from them easily—give that a shot! Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion! I tried using Rufus for two of the USBs, but they still didn’t show up. I’ll definitely look into Ventoy next. I was hoping the BIOS would allow us to see the USB—I guess I’ll have to explore those advanced settings just in case.
