My friend's master's thesis work was stored on Google Drive. When he opened the file today, he found that it only had the version from 2024, and all his work from 2025 disappeared! He uses the Google Drive app on his Mac. Is there any way to recover the last version? We've tried all the usual recovery solutions, but nothing has worked.

Storing important documents like a thesis on Google Drive can be risky since it’s dependent on their servers. It's always best to keep backups on your own computer too. But since you’re dealing with this now, do you know if he has any backup copies? It's really a good practice to have multiple versions saved.
