Hey everyone! I recently swapped out the CPU in my Acer Predator PO3-640, moving from the i5-12400F to an i7-12700F. Unfortunately, I'm facing a problem where the CPU power is capped at around 120W, despite the i7-12700F's specifications indicating that the PL1 should be 180W and PL2 should be 200W. This limitation is really affecting my performance, especially when I'm playing CPU-heavy games or running demanding tasks.
I've attempted to adjust the power limits using Intel XTU, but none of the changes seem to make a difference. Plus, I can't find any relevant settings in the BIOS to tweak these limits. I'm hoping someone here might have insights based on experience with this model or similar upgrades. Has anyone figured out how to bypass or unlock these power limits? Any recommendations on BIOS settings, updates, or other potential solutions would be super helpful. Thanks a ton!

It’s likely that the motherboard in your Predator isn’t designed for overclocking since it’s a prebuilt system from Acer. Most big brands limit the specifications of their motherboards and power supplies, which could be why you’re stuck at that wattage. You might be hitting a wall because the components are optimized for the original setup.

Are there any workarounds, or am I essentially stuck having to replace the motherboard? I’ve heard of people doing BIOS modding, but I’m pretty nervous about that—don’t want to brick my PC!
