Hey everyone! I hope you're all having a great day. I'm reaching out because I really need some expert advice, especially from those who are into system integration or have deeper knowledge about this stuff. I keep getting Event ID 500 in my Event Viewer under Diagnostics Performance, which states that "Video memory is over utilized, and there is trashing happening. Reducing the number of running programs and open windows may help resolve this." This error seems to be tied to the Desktop Window Manager (DWM).
I have the latest drivers installed, but the most recent version wasn't working since Adrenalin wouldn't start, so I'm currently using the older October version. I've tried all the recommended settings to fix issues with DWM, but I might be missing something critical.
What's puzzling is that my graphics card is consuming 12-14GB of VRAM even when I'm not actively doing anything on the desktop. Normally, when I'm watching YouTube or Twitch, it only uses about 3-4GB of VRAM. Additionally, I suspect that the graphics card may be throttling because I've noticed odd rendering distances in games, despite the clock speeds being relatively high at 3100MHz (using a 9070xt Nitro+).
I've reinstalled Windows multiple times, and yet, this Event 500 keeps popping up. I'm really at my wits' end after spending around 100 hours troubleshooting this issue, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

You might also want to check your RAM availability. Sometimes, if you don't have enough physical RAM or VRAM available, it can cause memory leaks, leading to issues like this. Since your Windows setup is fresh, consider checking what programs are running in the background; they could be the culprits. Good luck!
It sounds like you've been through quite the ordeal! The DWM issue can definitely crop up after driver updates, especially with AMD cards. I recommend doing a DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) clean install of your graphics drivers, which can help clear up any remnants from previous installs. Additionally, make sure to disable any Radeon overlays as they can also lead to this kind of problem. Give that a shot and see if it helps you out!
Thanks for the suggestions! Could you explain how I deactivate the Radeon Overlay? I’ve had some issues getting Adrenalin to open lately, and this has been so frustrating!

I've checked that! I've got a 9070xt Nitro+ and 32GB RAM, so there shouldn't be an issue there. I’ll keep looking though!
