Help with File Sharing Between Two PCs Using Ethernet

I'm having trouble transferring a file larger than 200 GB between two PCs using an Ethernet cable. I've set static IP addresses for both PCs and configured the default gateway to each other's IPs. I've also enabled file sharing and given access to the file, but it just doesn't show up on either computer. The other PC is giving me an error code 0x80004005, which says 'unspecified error.' Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

You really don't need to set static IPs for Windows file sharing. Just switch your IP settings back to being assigned by DHCP. Make sure that both PCs are connected to the same network, either through Ethernet or Wi-Fi. After that, share the folder and access it by navigating to the computer's name—something like \\Laptop-blahblah\Share. Oh, and double-check that the Ethernet cable isn't just connecting one computer directly to the other. That won't work unless you're using a crossover cable.

Have you tried accessing the shared folder using the IP address directly? For example, go to \\192.168.1.120Games in the file explorer. That might help you reach the shared files more reliably.

Can you check if you can ping each PC from the other? If they can't ping each other, there might be a network issue keeping them from connecting.
