Help with Latency Issues on External Monitor While Using Linux

I'm having a frustrating issue with my gaming laptop that keeps me from switching fully to Linux. I notice a significant latency on my external monitor that I don't have on the built-in laptop screen. This delay makes gaming really tough because the mouse cursor and actions feel out of sync. I've done some digging into Nvidia Prime, but I'm not sure if that's the root of the problem. Has anyone experienced this before or know how to resolve it? I've tried asking on a few forums but haven't gotten any responses yet. Here are my specs for reference:

- AMD Ryzen 7 6800H with Radeon Graphics
- Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti Mobile GPU
- 16GB ram
- 1TB SSD storage

It might be worth checking your display manager. Have you tested the latency issue on both Wayland and X11? Sometimes the settings you choose can make a difference!

I actually tried both. On Wayland, I had latency plus random slowdowns and frame drops, but X11 didn’t have the slowdowns—still, that latency was there. I turned off the internal display while using X11 since they have different refresh rates. Maybe that helped a bit!
