Hey everyone! I just picked up a 165Hz 2K monitor and hooked it up to my laptop, which normally has a 240Hz screen. However, I can only seem to set the refresh rate to a maximum of 144Hz in the settings. When I watch content on YouTube or other media players, the video quality feels choppy, almost like tearing, which isn't ideal since I'm streaming in 2K. Has anyone faced a similar issue? What solutions did you find helpful? Also, I noticed that the Movies & TV app performs much better than YouTube. By the way, my laptop has a damaged screen, which is why I decided to buy this monitor.

What type of display port are you using for your laptop and monitor? Also, which cable are you connecting with? If you're using HDMI, make sure it’s HDMI 2.0—it should support 144Hz refresh rates at 2K, as long as both the ports and the cable are up to spec.

I checked, and both my laptop and monitor have HDMI 2.0 ports. How can I find out if my cable is also HDMI 2.0?
