I need some advice on migrating an old physical server that was converted to VMware to Hyper-V. We used the VMware converter to turn a legacy HPE ML350 server running Windows Server 2008 R2 into a VM several years ago. This VM is rarely used, only spinning it up for accounting when necessary.
Now the company is transitioning away from VMware and using Hyper-V instead. We've been migrating VMs with Veeam and it's been mostly smooth sailing, but we're hitting a wall with this old server. After disabling secure boot (due to error messages), the VM just hangs on 'Windows is loading files' upon trying to boot.
We're debating whether to keep the ESXi server just for this VM or get it working on Hyper-V. The accounting department needs occasional access to it for about three more years, and I'd prefer to streamline our setup by getting it operational in Hyper-V. Any tips on how to make that happen without too much hassle? Thanks!

You might want to check out StarWind's V2V Converter. It's helped me migrate some VMs from VMware to Hyper-V a while back. Just a heads up though, the success rate isn't perfect; some VMs wouldn't boot after conversion. But for those that didn't work, I used the Veeam agent to back up and restore them. Worth a shot!
Oh, I totally forgot about that tool! I used it before but didn't consider it for this scenario. Thanks for the reminder!
