Help with PC Performance Issues while Multitasking

Hey everyone! I'm seeking some advice about my PC's performance. Here are my specs: I'm running a 13600K CPU on an MSI MAG Z690 Torpedo motherboard with 32GB of G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5-6000 RAM. My graphics card is an MSI 3080 with 10GB, and I have two NVMe drives for my OS and games. My main gaming setup is at 1440p resolution.

I use my PC for both work and gaming. As an architect, I often have AutoCAD running while also playing games like BDO and Escape From Tarkov in the background. I typically juggle a few screens with Twitch, YouTube, and reference materials open. Lately, I've noticed a general slowness; everything feels sluggish, and I'm experiencing stuttering during videos, especially when multitasking. The performance in games drops noticeably, requiring me to lower my graphics settings to maintain a decent frame rate.

If I only run one game, performance seems fine, but I'm wondering if I should upgrade to a 9950X3D for better multitasking. I'm considering this upgrade for the holidays, along with a future GPU upgrade to the 5070/5080, and eventually moving to a 4K OLED monitor. I also want to maximize value since my wife relies on my current PC for her design work and also needs an upgrade.

Thanks for any tips you can share!

Your PC specs look solid overall, so I don't think the CPU is the culprit for the slowdown you're experiencing. It might be worth checking your RAM and NVMe drives because they could be the bottleneck. I recommend running some benchmarking software like PassMark or UserBenchmark to compare your system's performance with similar setups. That might help identify the issue more clearly.

I agree, your specs seem fine. A fresh install of Windows could do wonders for your PC's speed. It can be easier than trying to troubleshoot individual problems. If you try that, it might clear up a lot of the sluggishness you're experiencing.

Your usage pattern—running games alongside AutoCAD and multiple background tasks—makes sense why performance might lag. From what I've seen, it’s often about the software loading too much at once. A clean install of Windows could definitely help, especially if you've had the same system for a while. Good luck!
