I recently made the switch from Starlink to Frontier's Fiber 1G service, and I'm experiencing significant ping spikes while gaming. My connection feels worse than before, even with an ethernet cable, leading to frustrating rubber banding and disconnects. I've already reached out to my ISP, and they sent me a new router, but it hasn't resolved the issue. I'm not super tech-savvy, so I'm hoping someone can help me figure this out. I've run some tests and can provide more details if needed. Here's a sample of my ping results:
Pinging youtube.com [142.250.217.206] returns around 9-10 ms, which seems okay, but I'm still facing issues when gaming. Any advice would really be appreciated!

Checking your trace route, I can see some inconsistencies in the hops, especially with requests timing out. Not all devices respond to ping requests, which could be causing some confusion. It's also possible that your new ISP has routing issues or there might be congestion affecting your connection during peak times. You could try a few things: restarting your router, checking for firmware updates, or even trying a different DNS server to see if that helps. Good luck!
Your connection looks fine based on the ping results you posted. I noticed you had timeouts in your trace to blizzard.com, which could indicate issues beyond your local network. Sometimes, packet loss can happen in the wider network, and it might not be something you can control. I suggest connecting to the gaming server directly to see if that improves performance. Also, consider reaching out to Frontier's technical support for a more in-depth investigation.
I appreciate the suggestion! I'll definitely contact support again and provide them with these trace results.

Thanks for the insight! I'll look into different DNS servers. Any recommendations?
