I've been experiencing some frustrating problems with my new 5070 Ti graphics card. After installing the card, I booted up in safe mode and used DDU to remove old drivers, then installed the latest drivers. Despite this, I'm facing frequent freezes and stuttering, especially while watching YouTube videos. I've tried resetting my PC, reinstalling Windows, and the drivers three times, but nothing has improved.
I checked the GPU performance using GPU-Z, and I noticed that when the GPU is idle, its clock speeds can spike between 1000 to 2700 MHz, and the memory clock reaches up to 1750 MHz. While watching YouTube, the GPU clock fluctuates from around 700 MHz to over 2000 MHz, and the memory clock goes from 50 to nearly 900 MHz. Additionally, I'm noticing these high clock speeds and freezes during simple tasks like closing and opening tabs or resizing windows. Has anyone experienced something similar or have insights into what could be wrong? Those clock spikes are pretty normal for GPUs as they adjust to load. Usually, you'll see them ramp up when more intensive tasks are running. Does this freezing happen in all games or just certain ones? You might want to set up MSI Afterburner or a similar tool to monitor performance while you play and see what’s happening during those freezes.
Yeah, I get that! But even when I'm just sitting on the desktop, the clock spikes up to 2600 MHz, which feels off to me. I haven't tested any games yet since I'm concerned about how it behaves at idle.
