Help with Stuttering and Screen Tearing Issues on My Gaming PC

Hey everyone, I need some help with a few frustrating issues on my gaming PC. I bought this second-hand machine, and while it was running smoothly at first after a clean install of Windows 10 Pro, I started experiencing stuttering and screen tearing in games after a BIOS update and a failed RAM overclock. I mainly play titles like PUBG, where I noticed stuttering while in a lobby, but it affects other games too, like Jedi Survivor and Lies of P.

I've already tried a lot of troubleshooting steps, including reinstalling Windows 11, updating drivers, checking BIOS settings, and changing cables. I even swapped my GPU with my wife's, and while the power draw improved, the stuttering remained. I'm getting pretty low performance scores in Cinebench now, which also concerns me.

If anyone has suggestions or solutions to help me get my system back to its stable state, I'd really appreciate it!

It sounds like you've put in a ton of effort already! For the stuttering issue, I'd recommend double-checking how your RAM is configured in BIOS. It might still be running at those low timings, which could affect performance. Also, you might want to experiment with turning off any power-saving features, as they can throttle your CPU without you realizing it. Lastly, try checking if your GPU is seated properly or if the PSU could be underpowered for your current setup.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll definitely check the RAM settings again and see if turning off power-saving features helps.

Since you're experiencing low power draw in Cinebench, it could indicate that your CPU isn’t being properly utilized. A power limit setting in your BIOS might still be misconfigured. Check your BIOS to ensure C-states are disabled, and if necessary, reset all settings to default and re-apply your tweaks gradually to isolate the issue. That way, you can better pinpoint what might be causing your performance drop.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll reset the BIOS to defaults and slowly implement the changes one by one to see if that helps.

Have you looked into the DWM registry setting more carefully? Sometimes, those tweaks can cause more issues than they solve. If the 'gpu linking shader blacklist' wasn't there before and it's causing problems, you might want to reset your registry settings to how they were initially. Also, consider using a different display cable or port temporarily to see if that resolves the tearing while Gsync is on. It might be a simple fix!
