I recently bought a used desktop and after running some stress tests, I've noticed that my MSI 2080 Super is experiencing high hotspot temperatures. While the core temps stay around 75°, the hotspot temps shoot up to between 90° and 105°, which really concerns me. This is my first time purchasing a used computer, and I don't want to damage it. I'm a bit hesitant about repasting the GPU since it's new for me, but I feel like I might not have any other choice. I've used Arctic MX-5 before from my laptop; should I go for that or consider something like Noctua H2 or GELID Extreme? I want to make a good choice to avoid issues for the next few years. Thanks for your help!

I just did a repaste on my 2070 that had similar hotspot issues (105+), and it worked wonders. I used the MX-5 I had lying around, and it's performing great now. PTM is great, but for the 2080, I'd say stick with a good thermal paste like MX-5. Also, if you ordered PTM, be cautious of the price; it could be fake if it's really cheap. Just check reviews before you buy.
Definitely repaste it! Your old MX-5 will work just fine. It'll help keep those temps down. Just make sure to clean the old paste off properly before applying the new one. Good luck!
Thanks! I'll give it a try!

I was thinking about grabbing Noctua, but I’ll try MX-5 first. Thanks for being helpful!
