As a parent of two little ones (ages 2 and 4), I'm exploring ways to incorporate AI and language models into fun and creative activities for them. I'm interested in ideas that can engage them academically and help teach life skills. I'm not necessarily looking for a structured curriculum, but rather a variety of suggestions like plans, fun presentations, or storytelling ideas. I'd love to hear what other parents are doing to incorporate AI into their child's learning experiences!

We like to create drawings and comics together, take photos of them, and then use an AI tool called Sora to enhance them with colors and styles. We even make short films using prompts for five-second videos, which we edit with DaVinci while adding music from free sound libraries. It's a blast getting them involved in the whole prompting process too since it teaches them about language in a fun way! I recently bought a microphone, so I'm hoping to add voiceovers into our projects too!

This sounds amazing! Was it difficult to learn how to use those tools?

I've had many discussions with my kids about AI, emphasizing that although it may seem human-like, it’s really just following code and not actually thinking. I think it’s crucial to address the Eliza effect, which can mislead kids into believing AI has feelings or understanding.

That's a really insightful perspective! I appreciate you sharing that; I didn't know there was a term for it.

Given their ages, I suggest letting them just play and explore the world around them. Get them active with blocks, dirt, and outdoor activities. AI will become a part of their lives soon enough, but at these early stages, they need real experiences, creativity, and human interaction. So, get out to the park and enjoy this precious time – you can always introduce AI later!

We also love transforming ourselves into Minecraft characters. It’s a fun way to blend physical creativity with their digital interests!

I sometimes turn our activities into comic book pages or coloring sheets, which makes it more interactive and engaging for the kids. They love the colorful illustrations!

Check out Khan Academy; it’s a comprehensive platform that uses AI for educational purposes. They have a ton of resources for kids.
