I just discovered that my laptop screen has developed a screen burn. I'm really worried about how serious this is and want to know how much trouble I'm in on a scale of 1 to 10. Additionally, I'd like to know how much it typically costs to replace a laptop screen too.

It really depends on your laptop model. Typically, replacing a laptop screen can cost you about half the price of the laptop itself. It's kind of wild to hear you got screen burn; I’ve had a laptop run as a server for 7 years straight and never had any issues like that! How did it happen?
Without knowing the make and model of your laptop, it's tough to give an exact replacement cost. If you're up for it, changing the screen yourself isn't too complicated. I've done it a couple of times, and my son does it regularly for his tech support job at school.
Just a heads up, what you're experiencing is likely retention, not burn. It's a different issue, but still can be annoying. If you have the model details, I could help you out more!

I was playing COD on it!
