This morning I had a shocking experience where I almost had my car stolen. When I checked my car afterward, I found an iPhone left by the thief on my seat. I'm in a bit of a bind because I really need access to this phone and want to see if there's any way to bypass the password while preserving all the information it has. This is actually the second time this has happened to me in a week, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, it’s not possible for an average person to bypass the password on an iPhone. It's designed to be secure, so unless you have the right tools or the person’s password, you're pretty much out of luck. I’d recommend giving the phone to the police instead; they have the proper resources to handle this situation.

I get how frustrating this must be, but bypassing someone else's phone without permission is illegal. The best course of action is to just turn it in to the police so they can investigate further. It's also worth remembering that's their personal information, and accessing it without consent isn't right.

You really should hand that phone over to the authorities. They are the ones equipped to deal with these kinds of situations. Plus, keeping it might get you into trouble, considering it was left by a thief.

If you really need to communicate using that phone, maybe try Siri to make a call to someone? You can say something like 'Call Mom' if voice commands are working without the password.
