I'm trying to help out a family friend who can't log into their Windows 11 computer. They set it up with a Microsoft account, but now they can't access it because it requires a verification code sent to their Gmail, which they can only check on that locked computer. They don't have any other devices to get the code and don't want to reset the PC since it might mean losing important files. Is there a way to bypass the password and get into the system without resetting it?

If there's any chance they logged into Gmail from another device, like a smart TV, you could use that to access the email. If not, resetting the Gmail password could help, but it sounds tricky since they need a recovery email. Trying to contact Microsoft support might also give you some leads.
Some users have found success with tools like Hiren's BootCD to help unlock accounts. It could be worth looking into that option.
While I can't help you bypass the password directly, there are a couple of workarounds you can try. One option is to boot from a Linux Live USB, like Linux Mint. This way, you might be able to access the files on the computer without logging into Windows. Just make sure you follow a tutorial if you haven’t done that before.
Have you considered using the recovery setup? You can change commands and try using 'net user' in the command prompt to create a new admin account. There are quite a few tutorials available online that can guide you through the process.
