How Can I Adjust My Gaming PC Build to Fit a $1500 Budget After Tax?

I'm working with a $1500 budget for a gaming PC build, but my parents want that to be the total after tax. Right now, my build costs about $1624 including tax. If I switch from a 9070 to a 9060XT, the price drops to around $1450. Should I go ahead with this graphics card swap? I'd appreciate any comparisons or explanations to help me understand the performance differences, maybe like how a 5060 compares to a 5070.

I think you should keep the 9070 and downgrade to a Ryzen 7600 or 9600X. That way, you can still keep a strong GPU without exceeding your budget. If you're shopping at MicroCenter, they usually have good bundles that can help you save even more!

Definitely! If you find a Ryzen 7 7700 on AliExpress, it could also be a great deal, just be aware of any taxes or tariffs you might face.

Since you're likely gaming a lot and using your parents' money, I recommend going for the Ryzen 7600X3D bundle. You can always add more RAM later if you need it, but remember that the performance drop from 9070 to 9060XT is significant. Also, keeping your system clean from unnecessary software will help performance. Also, check with your school about student discounts for Windows; those keys can save you some cash!

I'm just in high school, not college, but thanks for the tip!

A CPU downgrade isn't going to hurt your gaming performance much, especially since you're mainly focused on games. You might as well save some cash if you can!

I hear you! If your RAM came for free, that's awesome! Just make sure it’s compatible when you’re looking at other components.
