How Can I Balance Learning Coding While Relying on AI?

Hi everyone!

I just graduated with a degree in web and mobile development, but I'm not job hunting right now because I'm focused on preparing for a study trip to China in 2026. Lately, I've been really impressed by how AI can assist in coding, but I worry that I'm depending on it too much. I recently completed my first app using Symfony, and I felt like I was cheating since most of the code was generated by AI. I know the right terms and how to describe features, but not doing the coding myself makes me feel unprepared for a real job.

I've started learning Vue.js and understanding components, but I still reach for AI when I need to develop features quickly. I'm concerned that this reliance on AI will hinder my career as a front-end developer. Does anyone have advice on how I can grow my skills and develop a balanced approach to coding without letting AI take over? What's a good learning roadmap for someone in my position?

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

A good way to improve is to work on a project without AI assistance, no matter how small. It’ll help you see how far you can go on your own. Just get in there and try leading a project from start to finish!

I’ll definitely give that a shot! I want to see if I can manage a project entirely on my own. Appreciate the suggestion!
