How Can I Become a Good Programmer as a Beginner?

Hey everyone! I'm 18 and have realized that I've made some questionable choices in my life. I started studying web development in college this year, but I feel like I haven't learned what I truly need to become a competent professional, and I don't think that will change. I'm juggling part-time work at a supermarket, going to the gym, and trying to study programming on my own. Lately, I've been feeling really burnt out and a bit depressed. I'm diving into self-studying JavaScript almost from scratch, as I already have a decent grasp of HTML and CSS. However, using AI tools has made me feel a bit lost. So now, I'm focusing on direct learning through online resources and open courses.

My goal is to become a Fullstack developer. I want to learn JavaScript along with frameworks like React, Vue, and Bootstrap, plus get into backend technologies like Node.js and Python. Currently, I'm working through some courses, but I'd love some recommendations for useful study materials, tips for beginners, and advice on how much I should aim to study each day. Thanks a ton!

One piece of advice I'd share is to choose a single learning resource and stick with it. This way, you avoid getting lost in tutorial hell, where every topic seems like a never-ending rabbit hole. I personally found The Odin Project really helpful for learning full stack web development. It's free and open-source, designed for beginners by experienced developers. Since you already know HTML and CSS, you can jump straight to JavaScript and start building projects. They kick off with simple ones like Rock Paper Scissors and lead you to create a full-stack social network by the end which is super challenging but totally worthwhile if you're serious about learning!

I totally get the struggle! It's tough to balance everything and still have energy to learn. As far as study time goes, I suggest breaking it into manageable chunks. Even 1-2 hours a day, focused on specific topics, can make a big difference over time. Just remember to take breaks and give yourself grace; you're doing a lot!

Thanks for the support! I’ll try to keep my study sessions short and focused.
