How Can I Break Through My Programming Burnout at 27?

Hey everyone! I'm a 27-year-old guy who's really interested in diving into programming, but I seem to hit a wall every time I try. I studied computer science and know the basics of several languages like Python, C, C++, HTML, and Java, but I've never had a job that required coding, which is frustrating. I work as an assistant project manager right now, but I'm not satisfied with my salary or career direction. My dream is to become a game developer because I've seen how rewarding that can be in terms of salary and opportunities to travel. However, despite my strong desire to learn, I struggle to stick with programming. I often find myself in this cycle of starting from scratch, getting overwhelmed, and dropping it only to forget everything. I feel burnt out and trapped in what people call 'tutorial hell', and it's made worse by my short attention span. I'd appreciate any advice on whether it's too late for me to enter the programming world, how to break this cycle, and suggestions for engaging learning resources. Thanks so much!

Honestly, try to focus more on text-based tutorials instead of videos. They often allow you to absorb the fundamentals better, and once you learn a topic, create little projects or games on your own. Have a clear goal in mind for what you want to create; it makes the learning so much more engaging! Good luck!

It's definitely not too late for you! I started my game development journey at 26, and I totally understand that burnt-out feeling from tutorials. What helped me was diving straight into creating my own game project, no matter how simple it was. Just start building something related to your dream, and you'll find yourself learning as you go. It’ll be way more rewarding than just watching tutorials!
