How Can I Check for Spyware After Waking Up to My Computer on the Login Screen?

I fell asleep while my computer was running Windows 11 and playing media through media player. When I woke up, I found it on the login screen, which made me anxious that someone might have accessed my machine while I was out. I really just want to understand if there's a way to check for any spyware or tampering since I'm really worried about it.

Before jumping to conclusions, consider who might have access to your computer. If you were alone in your room, it’s less likely someone tampered with it. I’d recommend checking your Windows update history first, as updates can sometimes reboot your PC unexpectedly.

If you were playing content on repeat, your computer probably just locked after a set period of inactivity. Check your settings to see the sleep timer. Also, it’s wise to check for any new software under Settings, just in case.

If you’re super worried, try looking at the Event Viewer for login history. But remember, it’s pretty improbable that anyone installed spyware while you were sleeping, especially if you were alone.

It’s likely that your computer just went to sleep or updated itself. If you're concerned, running a Windows Defender scan is a good idea to check for any issues.
