How Can I Check the Health of My NVME SSD?

I'm having issues with a 2280 NVME SSD from my laptop that seems to be failing. I've experienced problems with installing programs and file deletion, so I decided to test it by putting it in a Sabrent USB-C enclosure. However, I've run into trouble trying to assess its health. I attempted to use HDD Scan and Smartmontools with Gsmart GUI, but I can't initiate any tests in HDD Scan since most options are grayed out, and the tests in Gsmart won't start either. While CrystalDiskInfo shows the drive at 100% health, I've read that some SMART tools can produce inaccurate results for SSDs. I've also seen suggestions about using nvme-cli, which works on Linux, but I'm not familiar with Linux or command line usage. How can I reliably check if this SSD is failing and if it's the source of my laptop's issues?

HDD diagnostic tools generally won't work for SSDs since they are designed for hard drives. I highly recommend using nvme CLI—it’s a solid tool for checking SSD health. Also, check the manufacturer's website for any specific software that works with your SSD model, as they usually have a GUI that's user-friendly for Windows users.

Thanks for the tip! I found the specific software for my Intel SSD. I'll test it out and keep you posted.
