How Can I Completely Remove McAfee from My System?

I've been trying to get rid of McAfee for about two hours now, but it's proving to be a challenge. It doesn't appear in my installed apps, yet I can still see it in the system tray. I attempted to use the McAfee uninstall tool, but it timed out on me. I also tried using Revo Uninstaller, but Windows 11 keeps saying I need admin permissions, even though I am the admin. Unfortunately, I can't change permissions on the McAfee folder to delete it either. Any suggestions on how to completely remove it? Thanks!

A good method is to boot into safe mode, which can often allow you to delete all of McAfee's files without interference. Give that a shot!

Ah, why didn't I think of this? I'll try it now and let you know how it goes!

Thanks, mate! That worked perfectly.

You can also consider trying Revo Uninstaller if you haven’t already. It’s great for cleaning up remnants of programs that don't fully uninstall. However, if that didn’t work for you, safe mode is definitely the way to go!

Thanks for trying to help! I mentioned I tried Revo, but it’s resolved now since I went into safe mode and deleted the files like someone else suggested.

Sometimes, apps like McAfee can continue running even after their executables are removed. A simple reboot might sometimes do the trick to clear things up.
