I'm having some trouble trying to connect a DVD player (model BDP-BX370) to my MacBook Pro. I've got the remote for it, and I'm able to power it on and eject the DVD, but I can't get it to connect to the computer. I used an HDMI cable to link them up and followed the instructions from the manual. According to page 16, I should select the input to display it on the screen, but that hasn't worked for me. I skipped the wireless LAN setup on page 15 because I thought that was for wireless connections, and didn't think I'd need to plug anything in. Could anyone help me figure out what I'm missing? I'm not very tech-savvy, so any guidance would be appreciated!

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to connect your DVD player directly to your MacBook Pro using HDMI. MacBook Pros have HDMI ports, but they’re meant for outputting video to external displays like monitors or TVs, not for receiving input from devices like DVD players. To watch DVDs, you'd need to connect your player directly to a TV or projector instead. If you want to record or display content from a DVD player on your laptop, you might look into HDMI capture devices, but keep in mind they often can't handle copy-protected signals from DVDs.
A USB cable won't help here either. The HDMI connection is specifically for video and audio output, and USB ports on laptops don't accept video input like that.
What if I tried using a USB cable between them instead?
