How Can I Connect My Old IDE Hard Drive to USB?

I recently found an old PC at my parents' place from my childhood, and I'm eager to see what's stored on it. I'm pretty sure the hard drive is IDE (PATA) rather than SATA, and I'm looking for an adapter that can connect it to USB for easier access. I've found some products online, but they seem to cater to newer HDDs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You'll want to look for an IDE to USB adapter. I found a good one that works for these types of hard drives. Just search for "IDE to USB adapter" and you should find several options!

It looks like you have a PATA drive, and those definitely need a specific adapter. Besides the IDE to USB adapter, you might also need a 40 pin ribbon cable and a molex power supply, which a lot of modern supplies still have. The jumpers might be set to "Master" right now, so keep it as is!

If you're looking for something specific, I found a link to an adapter that should work: check out this product for converting IDE to USB. Just make sure you confirm compatibility before buying it!

I’ll definitely take a look at that, thanks!
