How Can I Connect Two Monitors to My Laptop After the Screen is Damaged?

I recently had an unfortunate incident where my cat damaged the screen on my HP laptop, but the laptop still works fine. I used to extend my display via HDMI to an external monitor, making that my main screen. Now, I want to connect both an HDMI monitor and an older monitor that only has DisplayPort, VGA, and DVI inputs to create an extended display since my laptop no longer has its own screen. My laptop only has USB 2.0 and HDMI outputs. Is there a way I can achieve this?

Connecting two monitors to your laptop can be a bit tricky, especially since it only has USB 2.0. Your laptop may not support more than one video output natively, but there's a solution. You can use a USB 2.0 adapter like the StarTech USB2VGAE3. This adapter allows you to connect a VGA monitor by creating a virtual display through software, which then sends the video signal over USB. Just know that the video signal might not be as reliable as direct connections, but it should work for your needs!

So, if I get that USB adapter, I can use that for the older monitor and keep my HDMI connected for the other one? That sounds like a solid plan!
