Hi everyone! I've recently made the switch from Windows to Fedora on my Acer Predator laptop because I was having some issues with Windows. I'm looking for a way to control the GPU fan speeds, similar to utilities that I had on Windows. Is there any tool or utility for Fedora that lets me set fan curves or manage GPU fans effectively? Thanks for any help!

CoolerControl is a handy tool that allows control of various fans, including GPU ones! You can find more info on it at their docs: https://docs.coolercontrol.org/.

You should be able to find LACT in the official repository or as a Flatpak. That should help you out with fan control. If you're looking to manage other fans too, CoolerControl has an AppImage, but it’s not as user-friendly. Good luck!

Have you considered adjusting the settings in your BIOS? It’s a more reliable method since it works independently of the OS.

Totally agree! I switched to Fedora on my Lenovo LOQ and all my BIOS settings are working flawlessly. No more Windows issues!

I’ve faced similar issues with an HP Victus featuring a 4070. The EC restricts fan control and some other settings. I created a service that keeps the fan on full blast. It's loud but effective for cooling!
