I've got an RTX 3080, and while the GPU itself runs around 60°C during gaming, the memory temperatures are a worry—they're hitting 98°C even with the fans cranked to 100%! I'm brainstorming ways to lower those temps without burning anything out. I've been considering replacing the thermal pads as a possible solution. Anyone have experience with this or any tips? I'm particularly concerned about keeping the GDDR6X memory safe since I've read it can be prone to issues beyond that heat range.

60°C is actually a great temperature for your GPU during gaming, but I get your worry about the memory. It's strange that it's that hot with the fans at 100%! Keeping it below 100°C is crucial, so swapping those pads could really help. What kind are you thinking of getting?
Replacing the thermal pads is definitely a solid move, and honestly, those memory temps aren't too alarming if the GPU is stable. A lot of people run their cards at higher temps without issue, but if you're noticing performance drops, it might be time to upgrade those pads. Just be sure to choose something high-quality!
Yeah, I read that under-volting could help reduce temps, too. Just be careful with what pads you choose; I've had mixed results with cheaper brands!

I'm looking at Gelid or some Maxtor options from Amazon. Heard they’re pretty good!
