How can I copy a product key from a damaged Winworks USB for Windows 11?

I'm in a bit of a bind here. I have a USB drive for Winworks autoshop that contains a product key, but the USB is damaged and only works when I apply pressure to it. My job depends on this software to create work orders, so I need to find a way to copy the key. I managed to copy everything over to a new USB, which is formatted as FAT and the same size, but the program won't launch properly. It says the product key isn't detected. Is there any way around this?

Honestly, this likely won't work the way you're hoping. It might be worth contacting Winworks directly to explain your situation and see if they can offer a solution or a replacement for your USB key.

If you think it's not tied to the USB itself, try this: Get a USB extender cable, keep the damaged USB plugged in, apply pressure to it, and then secure it with some electrical tape. This will keep it connected while you work. If that doesn't cut it, consider opening the USB drive and replacing the connector if you're comfortable with some DIY soldering.

You might want to check with Winworks to see if they allow key transfers! Sometimes, the software ties the key to the specific USB's hardware ID, which means copying it wouldn't work. If that's the case, reaching out to the company could be your best bet.

Ultimately, your best shot is to reach out to the software vendor and ask them for a replacement key. They might have a process for situations like this.
