How Can I Cultivate a Real Passion for Web Development?

Hey everyone,

I'm from India and currently on my journey to learn web development. However, I've got to be honest—I'm not feeling that spark or excitement about it. It often feels like I'm just going through the motions in hopes of landing a job. One of my main struggles is that I don't typically build projects for enjoyment or learning; when I sit down to create something, my mind goes completely blank. I lack ideas, drive, and genuine interest.

I see people building incredible software like Git or the Linux kernel, which inspires me, but I can't shake the feeling that many of us are coding just to earn a paycheck instead of out of curiosity or passion.

Has anyone else experienced this? How did you revive your interest in programming? Any tips on how I can rediscover that love for coding?

Thanks a lot!

First, identify what you genuinely enjoy and then find a career that aligns with those interests. If you start with a job you don't love, you'll likely feel miserable spending a third of your life doing it.

You're right, but in a country like India where jobs are scarce, it's tough to focus solely on passion when survival is a priority.

If your coding is solely for a paycheck, that’s a recipe for burnout. I genuinely enjoy building software in my spare time, but these days with all the AI buzz, the joy can start to fade. Still, if I had a choice, I’d reroute to a different career altogether.

Please let me know how can I develop interest into it.

You don't have to be a superstar like Linus Torvalds to contribute to the programming world. The key is to find out what truly sparks your interest. Reflect on what you're passionate about; sometimes that can guide you towards projects you might enjoy.

Honestly, if you’re not interested from the get-go, it’s tough to force that interest. If programming doesn’t light a fire in you, it might just lead to a job where you aren't fulfilled. Consider exploring other career paths that ignite your passion instead!
