Hey everyone! I'm looking to build a new PC featuring a NVIDIA RTX 5090 for 4K gaming. My current setup is a bit outdated, being almost 5 years old with a 3080, and it's starting to struggle. Since I've never built a PC before, I bought my last one pre-built, so I'm a bit nervous about sourcing components on my own. I want to future-proof my build for the next 4-5 years, aiming for at least 144 FPS in competitive games and 90 FPS in immersive titles, all while keeping my budget around £3,000 after selling my old rig. Here's what I have planned so far:
1. **Case**: CORSAIR ICUE 5000D RGB AIRFLOW - £149.99
2. **Motherboard**: ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X870E HERO - £449.99
3. **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D - £419.99
4. **GPU**: 32GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 5090 - £1,899.00
5. **RAM**: VENGEANCE® RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 DRAM 6000MT/s CL30 - £131.99
6. **SSD**: SAMSUNG 9100 PRO M.2 Internal SSD 4TB - £349.00
7. **Cooling**: Corsair iCUE LINK TITAN 360 RX RGB 360mm AIO - £129.98
8. **PSU**: CORSAIR RM1000x 1000 Watt - £144.98
9. **Static Strap**: Aituo Anti-Static Metal Strap - £6.59
**Total so far: £3,681.51**
Is there anything I should adjust or swap out to save money without sacrificing performance? I can handle getting a Windows license separately, so it's not included here. Thanks for the help!

Just a heads up, you might be paying extra for things like RGB lighting that won’t improve your gaming performance. Cutting down on aesthetics could really help lower costs while still giving you awesome performance.
You're definitely overspending on certain parts. For example, you don’t need that expensive 360mm cooler for the 9800X3D, and a good 240mm cooler would be plenty. Also, you might want to explore cheaper RAM options or cases that still deliver good airflow without the added cost.
That makes sense! I’ll see what other coolers are available.
Your build looks solid! However, some folks have suggested swapping the 9100 PRO SSD with a Samsung 990 PRO, which could save you around £70 without really affecting your gaming experience. Just a thought!
Thanks for the tip! I'll check that out.
Consider a cheaper motherboard like the ASUS TUF Gaming B650 E, which is around £140. It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built-in and will work perfectly with your CPU. A lot of premium motherboards just add bling without any performance gains.
Great advice! I’ll look into the TUF model.
If you want to future-proof a bit more with RAM, consider going for 64GB instead of 32GB. It’s not too much more expensive and might help with upcoming games or multitasking.
Totally get that! I’ll prioritize performance over looks.
