I'm trying to figure out how to deploy devices using Intune directly out of the box, meaning zero touch for users. We want the laptops to be shipped from the vendor so that users can just log in with their credentials and automatically join our domain. My manager mentioned it should be possible, but we're running into issues where new laptops aren't provisioning correctly, and users are logging in with admin credentials instead. What steps should I take to make this happen?

Just about! You need to tell the vendor you want the devices set up with Autopilot, and specify which group tag to use. Make sure your Autopilot profiles are ready before you commit.
We do this successfully. Just make sure your users have good internet, as provisioning time can vary based on what’s being set up.
Yes, the vendor is responsible for registering the laptop with Microsoft, so you're right on that. You should ensure they handle it when shipping.
Yeah, it's possible to do this with Autopilot! While I haven't fully tested it myself for complete zero touch, I've read that it can work well if set up correctly.
I’m not 100% sure about every step, but you need to get the vendor to configure Autopilot for your tenant. Once it’s done, it should meet your needs. Dell offers support for this, and likely HP does too.
