How can I disable Virtual Desktops in Windows 11?

I've been having a frustrating issue while gaming on Windows 11. Whenever I try to tab out of my game, it automatically sends me to Virtual Desktop #50, and then I have to waste time cycling through all of them to get back to my game. I don't even use these virtual desktops! I'm looking for a way to completely disable them so I can quit getting redirected. Any tips?

If you're ever in a situation with virtual desktops open, you can switch between them using Windows + Ctrl + Left or Right Arrow keys. Just make sure to go in the right direction—if you're stuck on a higher number, try going back toward 1. It's a bit funny how it wraps around!

One simple solution could be disabling the keyboard shortcuts for virtual desktops altogether. Just do a quick search online for instructions on how to do that—it's usually pretty straightforward! That way, you won't accidentally trigger them while gaming.

Thanks! I'll definitely look into that.

It's super annoying when that happens! You might want to try running your game in windowed mode. This way, you can just click on the game window instead of using the keyboard shortcuts that might be sending you to those virtual desktops. Also, keep in mind that using the Win key will just bring up the start menu, which makes it easier to switch back and forth without jumping through desktops.

You can view all your open desktops by pressing Win + Tab, and from there, you can click the X to close the ones you don't want. Just avoid hitting the shortcuts that create new ones, like tapping Win + Tab and then clicking 'New Desktop'. Really simple to manage once you get the hang of it!

Honestly, not the most elegant solution, but if you're hitting the Windows key by accident, you could just take it off your keyboard! I can't remember the last time I actually needed it. That way, you won't accidentally create or switch desktops anymore.
