How can I effectively juggle multiple projects as a solo developer?

I'm currently managing three main projects and I'm finding it quite challenging. One project involves developing software tools that take about a month to complete. Another is focused on bigger applications, which can take a year or even longer to build. Lastly, I'm also doing content creation for social media, needing to post 2 to 5 times a week and network with other accounts. I'm looking for strategies on how to manage these three different projects effectively.

One tip I have is to steer clear of Jira if you can. It can be a bit overwhelming for solo projects. I also find that using separate laptops for each project helps create a mental boundary, making it easier to switch between them.

Finding balance can be tough, but having a structured schedule can really help.

Honestly, it's all about finding what works best for you. There are tons of to-do apps out there, so pick one that fits your style! Personally, I use Timeator, which also helps me with invoicing. You might want to try something like GitLab for ticketing. Just make sure you put in as much effort into managing your time as you do into building your apps.

I totally understand the struggle! When I manage multiple projects, I focus on batching my week instead of trying to make daily progress on all three. For example, I might dedicate two days to my big app, two days to the smaller tools, and then squeeze content creation into mornings or late evenings. Batching content really helps too; I try to create multiple posts in one go and schedule them out, rather than stressing over daily posts. Also, remember, every time you finish those one-month tools, that’s content for your social media! Let your projects support each other.

I manage my multiple projects with a good dose of panic and anxiety! It’s all part of the fun, right?
