How can I enable 10-bit color and VRR on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed?

Hey everyone! I recently made the switch to Linux because I wasn't a fan of the telemetry in Windows 11. I'm currently running OpenSUSE Tumbleweed with a Wayland desktop environment on a 7800XT graphics card and a Corsair 32UHD144 monitor. I'm having trouble confirming whether VRR is functioning and finding a way to enable 10-bit color. My monitor indicates it has FreeSync Premium, but the display settings indicate VRR is not available while saying 10-bit color is enabled. This has me confused—does it refer to the monitor's capabilities or its current operational status? I'm seeing some banding in 8-bit on my test charts, so it doesn't seem like it's working as intended. I also find it challenging to navigate graphics settings like I would with AMD Adrenaline on Linux, especially for toggling features like Radeon Chill or FRTC. It looks like I can't disable V-sync easily either. Are these features simply not available on Linux, or am I missing something?

If you're on GNOME, I'd recommend switching to KDE. It tends to have better support for these kinds of settings, and it should simplify things for you!

I'm actually using KDE with Wayland, but thanks for the suggestion!

For KDE, try modifying your `monitors.xml` file. You can add this line to set it up: full and 12. It worked for me yesterday on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed!

Thanks for the tip! Is GNOME really better if I want more support for these features?
